Description
An elegant and timeless alley. The sky is clear, but the umbrella and elongated shadows are subtle indications that this may well be one of the first days of autumn. As is often the case with the prints of Nishijima Katsuyuki, there are no strong indications of the wider period or circumstances the scenery can be placed in, enabling the image to evoke a timeless beauty, and highlighting the recurring passage of places through the day and seasons.
