Kogyo Tsukioka – Earth Spider

Original woodblock print. The first edition of this design was published in 1922. The current print is from an edition in the first half of the 20th century.

The current design is one of the most popular from the large series One Hundred Prints of Noh. It depicts the moment a large spider monster tries to ensnare the famous samurai Minamoto Raiko with spiderwebs.
