Description

The composition combines both Japanese and Western artistic techniques, and depicts influences from both worlds as well. Ueno Park itself was inspired by the way Western parks were set up. Further in the back, however, behind the modern electric lanterns, a torii gate can be seen in front of a stairway with Japanese lanterns at the top, and a pagoda towering above all further in the distance.

Condition notes

The print is in excellent condition, with remnants of its original presentation folder visible on the back. Reportedly from the Robert O. Muller collection and never having been framed or displayed, consistent with its pristine condition.
