Description

Here Kawase Hasui, one of the great masters of snow scenes, shows snow covering the Kiyomizudera in spring. A number of people are present, some hardly visible within the building itself, stressing the largeness and height of the temple. Further away, other buildings of the wider temple complex are still vaguely discernible through the falling snow. The Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto serves as inspiration for woodblock print artists to this very day. Its uniqueness and elaborate structure make it especially suitable for impressive prints, such as the current one.
