Description

Two women cross a bridge over the Edo River on a winter evening, protected with umbrellas against calm snowfall. Variants of this design are known. A well-known variant is completely in tones of white and blue, but here the multicolor version is shown. Kawase Hasui ranged widely in subject matter, but winter scenes such as this one, alongside night landscapes, were among his specialties.

Condition notes

The print is in excellent condition. On the back, the number 1954 has been written in pencil (but this should not be taken as the year of printing, as this is a later edition).
