Description

The design is a variant of the Fine Wind, Clear Morning print, otherwise known as Red Fuji . The first blue variant impression was produced circa 1830. Whereas Fine Wind, Clear Morning utilizes more real-life colors and focuses on the red color that Mount Fuji can take on during sunrise under the right weather conditions, the variant impression uses predominantly blue tones, leading to its name Blue Fuji. The print is from a limited edition of 200, printed from newly carved blocks by publisher Unsodo in the year 2020. These blocks are now part of the collection of the Mogi Honke Museum of Fine Art. This is why the print is numbered in the lower right corner, and why no further reprints from these blocks are expected.
