Kiyomizu Temple in Snow

Description

Snow is falling down onto the Kiyomizu-dera temple in Kyoto. Kiyomizu temple is a popular subject both for visitors and for woodblock print artists. The perspective Teruhide Kato employs here was not often used, however, and it conveys the building's imposing scale effectively. The design is relatively simple compared to other prints by Kato and, perhaps in part because of that, seems to possess a calm atmosphere.
