Description
In the foreground, three wanderers seem to rest, with one having taken off his gear and sitting on a rock. Next to them is a giant tree, taking most of the immediate attention together with the three travelers. Up the stairs and past a torii gate and lanterns is a shrine, close to the trees and hills that gradually fade into the mist. The pronounced foreground, with the leisurely wanderers, for the moment seemingly uninterested in the shrine above them, contrasts with the misty scene in the back, lending it a silent, numinous quality.
Condition notes
The print is in very good condition. On the back remnants of a previous mounting remain.
