Description
Tree scene 136 is one of Hajime Namiki's most successful tree scenes. It depicts a large tree with the complex pattern of the smaller and smaller branches radiating out from its trunk. The tree is rendered in blue, with the background golden, a palette Namiki employs frequently. Slightly reminiscent of his Hill series, the smaller trees at the horizon lend the composition a sense of spaciousness while reinforcing the scale of the large tree in the foreground.
