Nishida Tadashige – Cat Series – Frolicking

Original woodblock print. From 2015. Hand-signed and numbered by the artist (132/150).

A small black cat reaches for the tail of a bigger black cat, perhaps its mother or father. The big cat looks back to see who is playing with its tail. As usual with cat prints by Nishida Tadashige, the characters of the cats show through their appearance, with their activities suggesting the mood they are in.

The paper contains three small holes, but far removed from the image. One in the middle at the bottom, one in the upper left, and on in the upper right corner. One of the pictures shows one of these.
