Ishiwata Koitsu – Moon at Enoshima Beach

Original woodblock print. The first edition of this design was published in 1933. The current print was printed in the Reiwa period (2019 – present).

Ishiwate Koitsu is often confused with Kawase Hasui or Tsuchiya Koitsu, and some even think that he is the same as one of those. The confusion arises in part from this very print. In some editions the artist seal of Kawase Hasui was used for it. It is unclear why this change was made. Other unclarity might simply be the result of Tsuchiya Koitsu having both a similar name and being active in the same period for sometimes the same publisher. According to most Ishiwata Koitsu is simply a separate artist however.

The print is in excellent condition.
