Hiroshige (1797-1858) – The Monkey Bridge in Kai Province
Woodblock print (reprint). The first edition of this design was published in the Edo period (1603 – 1868). The current print was printed in the 20th century, 1st half.
The current print was made in the 20th century after a 19th century diptych by Utagawa Hiroshige.
Image size (excluding margins): 36.0 * 23.0 cm (14.2 * 9.1 in).
The print is in fine state. It was printed on darker then usual paper, most likely to try to replicate the atmosphere of an aged 19th century print. There is mild soiling, irregularities above the mountain inside the image and wrinkles in the lower margin.
The pictures shown here are from the print itself.
