Original woodblock print. The first edition of this design was published circa 1950. The current print is an early, but not first, edition.

The print is in fair state and has discolored. On the upper back tape remains from a previous backing, visible in the front. On the back a small note has been written in pencil.

Benji Asada (1899-1984) was a Japanese woodblock print artist and painter. Based in Kyoto, he was central to the city’s Sosaku-hanga movement in the first half of the 20th century, together with artists such as Takeji Asano and Tokuriki Tomikichiro.
